The official opening of the zoo after a 5-year reconstruction took place on Kharkiv City Day - August 23, 2021. This is one of the best zoos in Europe: both in terms of collection and conditions of keeping animals. The European Association gave the Kharkiv Zoo the highest marks after its reconstruction. The Kharkiv Zoo is the oldest in Ukraine - it started its work in 1895.
